4,000 Maniacs
What's up and what's next
Dear Insiders,
I have some exciting news: Author Insider just hit 4,000 subscribers! Yes, I know, external validation is silly, superficial, and arguably counter-productive to happiness, but even so… 4,000 feels pretty good!
It’s been exciting and challenging building Author Insider over the past year. There have been lots of experiments and iterations as I’ve tried out to figure out just what’s most helpful. In January, for example, we launched small, peer-led groups for authors who are focused on getting their book published or a book proposal submitted in 2026. So far, it’s been going great, which is really heartening.
And just last week, I opened up the Next Big Idea Club events calendar to Author Insiders, so that members can attend the fantastic events we curate there as well. The calendars have been combined on Luma, so you can sign up easily by going to the existing Author Insider Luma calendar.
Before I sign off … I’ve been thinking about how, though Author Insider focuses on nonfiction, many of you are hybrid writers who work in other formats and genres. In light of this, I’m considering hosting some Q&As in adjacent subjects. I’ve put together a quick poll to get a sense of what you might be curious about.
Vote for anything that sparks your interest (multiple picks encouraged).
I’ll use the results to schedule live Q&A sessions where there’s clear interest. Thanks!
Until next time,
Panio Gianopoulos

Congrats!
Totally behind broadening the scope, even as a non-fiction person, especially when it comes to insights that can be broadly useful (e.g., good storytelling in fiction, podcast, or screenplays isn't all the same, but each can be incredibly informative to the other).
